SETUP

  • Location: Maribyrnong Community Centre, 9 Randall St Maribyrnong (28 A7)
  • The market opens at 9.30am to the public. Please be in attendance by 9.00am and ready to trade by 9.20am. Stalls will be available for stallholders to set up from 8.00am until 9.00am.
  • Stallholders can unload their goods directly in front of the market area, and then move cars away to leave parking for buyers. There is ample parking in the vicinity of the market.
  • Please be careful when carrying your goods in & out of the venue. Do not drag goods across the floor. Any damage to the floor will be the responsibility of the stallholder.
  • You can place goods slightly in front / under your table – but please make sure they do not stick out too far into the walkway.
  • We provide an area for all large items (i.e. changetables, cots, etc). Stall holders can place 2 x large items in the display area for no charge. Your items will need to be displayed unassembled due to space restrictions. It is recommended that you attach a photo to your item if it is important to be seen assembled. When you are placing your large items in the display area, you will be required to label your item with your price, which you can change at any time during the market. Although we will have someone in attendance in the large items area, no responsibility will be taken for theft, loss or damage of large items.
  • Please cover your trestle table with a tablecloth.
  • A chair will be placed at your stall for your use during the market.
  • Clothes Racks – you are welcome to bring your own clothes racks. Unfortunately we cannot provide them.
  • Please be set up and ready to trade by 9.20am and trade until 12.30pm that day. At 12.30pm the market closes to the public.
  • Stall holders can sell quality pre-loved babies and children’s goods. New goods are allowed in restricted quantities. Please advise us of what you are selling prior to the market. If you have a specific request in terms of location eg. Corner stall please advise. We will endeavour to satisfy everyone, however may not be able to in all instances. First paid = best dressed!
  • Any transactions that occur between buyer and seller are at their own discretion, and Munchkin Markets will not be held responsible for such transactions. Munchkin Markets will pass stallholder contact information on to any customer who has purchased an item that breaches the Trade Practises Act. Please contact Consumer Affairs Victoria for further information. Stallholders must ensure that products:
    • are suitable for the purpose for which it is sold
    • are not faulty
    • perform to an appropriate standard, and
    • achieve the requested result when you carry out the service.
  • It is the stallholder’s responsibility to ensure that all goods sold comply with the relevant Australian Standard. Munchkin Markets takes no responsibility for faulty and/or damaged goods and will contact you for resolution of any complaints arising from customers. The ACCC sets guidelines about selling goods relating to children and babies. These guidelines can be found on the ACCC website or by calling the ACCC on 1300 302 502.
  • Stall holders are prohibited from selling anything that has a legal restrictions upon their sale, as well as any item not related to babies and children. Food and drinks may not be sold without written permission from Munchkin Markets, as well as relevant council permits. Lucky dips and raffle tickets are not permitted. Any items that cause damage to the premises in any way may not be sold, and Munchkin Markets reserves the right to request the immediate removal of such items. Furthermore, the stallholder will be held responsible for any damage that is caused.
  • Please take your own rubbish home with you. If you don’t take it home with you we have to take it home with us!
  • Usually there is a sausage sizzle to buy food and drinks from.
  • Please refrain from trading prior to the market open. It is frustrating for stallholders to have people looking through their things before they are set-up, and also sometimes customers manage to slip in prior to the market which obviously we would like to discourage. Please let us know if anyone is bothering you.

SETUP TIPS

  • Ensure that your items are neat, tidy and in good condition.
  • Price them at the lowest price that you are prepared to take. Most customers are coming looking for bargains, and you are much more likely to walk away with cash in your pocket (rather than taking your goods home) if your items are well priced. You can also change pricing during the duration of the market.
  • Try and organise your space in the most efficient way you can. Do not overload your table, and make it easy for customers to look through your items. Make sure that everything is priced either individually or together (eg. everything on rack $4).
  • You can use a little bit of space in front of your stall, so you might have some boxes or baskets on the floor. However, try not to make it too hard for customers to get through to your table.
  • Make sure you have some small change and plastic bags.
  • If you need to have a quick toilet break, then you can usually ask your neighbour to keep an eye on your stall. Alternatively please ask one of the staff to assist.
  • We recommend that you measure out the size of your stall or 2.5m wide x 1.5m deep so that you are aware how much space you have to work with.
